Drive from Luxor to Kharga Oasis After breakfast, meet your driver and start your journey from Luxor to Kharga Oasis. The drive takes around 5 hours, passing through desert roads and wide landscapes until you arrive in Kharga, the main city of the New Valley Governorate. Kharga Oasis is an important desert destination and the administrative center of the New Valley, a governorate that covers a large part of Egypt’s Western Desert. Visit Kharga Museum and Historical Sites During your visit, you will discover artifacts from different periods of the New Valley’s history, including Ancient Egyptian, Christian, and Islamic periods. You will visit Hibis Temple, dedicated to Amun. This temple is one of the rare temples built during the Persian rule of Egypt. Its inscriptions and later Roman gate provide important historical details about Egyptian religion and Roman influence in the oasis. Visit Bagawat Cemetery Continue to Bagawat Cemetery, one of the oldest and best-preserved Christian cemeteries in the world. After Christianity arrived in Egypt, many Christian communities moved to desert areas for protection during periods of Roman persecution. Bagawat is a unique historical site where you can see ancient mud-brick tombs and chapels that reflect the early Christian presence in Egypt’s Western Desert. Visit Nadura Temple-Fortress and Kharga Market You will also visit the Nadura Roman temple-fortress, located on a hill near Hibis. It was used as a lookout point and offers an interesting example of Roman military and religious architecture in the oasis. Later, enjoy a visit to the old market area of Kharga. This local market mainly serves the people of the oasis, giving you a real look at daily desert life. Drive to Dakhla Oasis After breakfast, start your journey to Dakhla Oasis, one of the most beautiful green oases in Egypt’s Western Desert. Dakhla is known for its palm groves, farms, traditional villages, and ancient monuments. Visit Balat and Ancient Mastabas In Dakhla, you will visit the unique ancient burial monuments near Balat, known for their unusual “upside down” mastaba style. These monuments date back to the Old Kingdom period and show the importance of Dakhla Oasis during the same era when the pyramids were being built in the Nile Valley. Your guide will explain how the governors of Dakhla were buried here and why this site is important for understanding the connection between the oases and ancient Egypt. Visit Al Qasr Dakhla Continue to the old Islamic town of Al Qasr Dakhla, one of the most atmospheric old towns in Egypt’s Western Desert. Built in a desert-medieval style on top of an older Roman settlement, Al Qasr is famous for its narrow streets, mud-brick houses, wooden doors, and traditional architecture. Walking through Al Qasr feels like stepping back in time and gives you a deeper look into the history and local life of the oasis. Visit Mut and Qasr Mut You will also visit Mut, the main town of Dakhla Oasis. Mut still carries its ancient Egyptian name, connected to the goddess Mut of Thebes. Here, you will visit the remains of the old city of Qasr Mut and learn more about the long history of settlement in Dakhla. Overnight in Dakhla Accommodation at a hotel or similar.
Drive to Farafra Oasis After breakfast, begin your journey toward the White Desert. On the way, you will stop at Farafra Oasis, known in ancient Egyptian times as the “Land of the Cow.” Farafra was once one of the most remote human settlements in the Western Desert, and it still has a quiet and authentic desert atmosphere. Visit Bir Sitta Hot Spring Enjoy a relaxing stop at Bir Sitta hot spring, one of the beautiful natural springs in the area. You can enjoy the warm water and take a peaceful break before continuing deeper into the desert. 4x4 Safari Adventure in the White Desert After arriving near the White Desert, you will meet your 4x4 desert driver and begin your adventure across one of Egypt’s most surreal landscapes. The White Desert is famous for its chalky white rock formations shaped by wind over thousands of years. Many of these formations look like mushrooms, animals, or human faces, creating a magical and almost dreamlike desert scene. Your safari will take you through beautiful desert areas where you can enjoy the silence, open views, and unique natural shapes. Sunset and Camping in the White Desert In the evening, watch the sunset over the white sands and limestone formations. As the light changes, the desert becomes even more beautiful and peaceful. This is a good chance to relax and experience a simple desert village atmosphere. Drive to Bahariya Oasis After lunch, drive to Bahariya Oasis and arrive in Bawiti, the capital of the oasis. Bahariya is known for its palm groves, mountains, warm springs, and desert views. You will be transferred to your hotel or safari camp for rest before starting the afternoon tour. Afternoon Tour in Bahariya Oasis In the afternoon, explore some of the top sights of Bahariya Oasis, including: El Meftella Mountain Salt Lake Dest Mountain, also known as Pyramid Mountain Maghrafa Mountain Bir El Ghaba and El Matar warm springs You may have the opportunity to bathe in the warm springs and enjoy the peaceful oasis atmosphere. If time permits, you will visit the English Mountain at sunset. This old English outpost was used by British troops because of its strategic view over the oasis. Visit Bahariya Oasis Museum After breakfast, enjoy a walk in the center of Bahariya Oasis and visit the Bahariya Oasis Museum. This is a good final cultural stop before leaving the Western Desert. Drive Back to Cairo After the visit, your driver will transfer you back to Cairo and drop you off at your hotel.
