Itinerary

Drive from Cairo to Bahariya Oasis Early in the morning, you will be picked up from Cairo by a modern air-conditioned vehicle and start your journey to Bahariya Oasis. The drive takes around 4 hours and covers approximately 340 kilometers. Bahariya is the nearest oasis to Cairo and is surrounded by black hills formed from ferruginous quartzite and dolerite. The oasis is also famous for its mineral and sulfur springs, some of which can reach high temperatures and are known locally for their relaxing and healing effects. Upon arrival in Bawiti, the capital of Bahariya Oasis, you will drive to the safari camp hotel for rest and lunch. Visit the Black Desert After lunch, start your desert adventure by visiting the Black Desert, one of the most unique landscapes around Bahariya Oasis. The dark color of the rocks comes from iron-rich volcanic material, giving the area its dramatic black appearance. You will have time to walk and explore the unusual desert scenery before continuing deeper into the Western Desert. Explore Gabal El Marsos and El Hez Village Continue to Gabal El Marsos, also known as the Divided Mountain. This natural formation is one of the interesting desert stops on the way toward the White Desert. Then drive toward the small Bedouin village of El Hez, where you can experience a glimpse of local desert life before continuing your journey. Crystal Mountain, Agabat and Sand Dunes On the way to the White Desert, you will stop at Crystal Mountain, a beautiful natural formation known for its sparkling crystal-like rocks. You will also visit Agabat El Sharkia, one of the most scenic desert areas, famous for its limestone formations, open valleys, and soft sand dunes. Here, you can enjoy the desert view and have fun with sandboarding. Visit El Santa Tree Before entering the White Desert, you will stop at El Santa Tree, one of the oldest and most famous trees in the desert. This stop adds a unique natural touch to your safari route. Explore the White Desert Continue across the sands of the White Desert National Park, one of Egypt’s most surreal and beautiful natural areas. The White Desert is famous for its chalky white rock formations shaped by wind and sand over thousands of years. Many formations look like mushrooms, animals, birds, or human faces, creating a magical landscape that feels completely different from any other desert in Egypt. Sunset, BBQ Dinner and Overnight Camping In the evening, enjoy an unforgettable sunset over the white desert formations. As the sky changes color, the desert becomes peaceful and atmospheric. After sunset, enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner under the stars with a Bedouin-style desert atmosphere. You will also have time to enjoy the clear sky, shining stars, and the silence of the desert. Overnight camping in the White Desert.

Sunrise in the White Desert Wake up early after a peaceful night in the desert and enjoy the beautiful sunrise over the White Desert. This is one of the most memorable moments of the tour, as the morning light reflects on the white chalk formations. After breakfast, you can enjoy a short walk or light hiking among the beautiful rock formations before leaving the White Desert. Drive to Dakhla Oasis After breakfast and the morning desert walk, you will change from the 4x4 vehicle to a minivan and drive south toward Dakhla Oasis. Dakhla is one of the largest and most beautiful farming oases in Egypt’s Western Desert. It is known for its palm trees, green fields, traditional villages, and historical monuments. Visit Al Qasr Dakhla In Dakhla, you will visit the old Islamic town of Al Qasr Dakhla, built in a desert-medieval style on top of an older Roman settlement. Walking through Al Qasr is like stepping into the past. You will see mud-brick houses, narrow streets, old wooden doors, traditional architecture, and historic Islamic buildings that reflect the oasis lifestyle. Visit Mut and Qasr Mut Continue to Mut, the main town and administrative center of Dakhla Oasis. The town still uses its ancient Egyptian name, connected to the goddess Mut of Thebes. Here, you will visit the remains of the old city of Qasr Mut and learn more about the long history of settlement in the oasis. Visit the Ethnographic Museum You will also visit the small but important Ethnographic Museum in Mut. This museum gives visitors a special look into the traditional culture of the oasis. Inside, you can see a model of a traditional house, locally produced items, traditional dresses, jewelry, rugs, and scenes of village life created with clay figures by the local artist Mabrouk. This visit helps you understand the daily life, customs, and local identity of Dakhla Oasis. Temple of the Rock and Colored Mountain Further visits will take you to the Temple of the Rock and the Colored Mountain, where you can enjoy more of Dakhla’s natural and historical beauty. These stops add variety to the day by combining desert landscapes, local culture, and ancient history. Overnight in Dakhla Accommodation at a hotel in Dakhla Oasis.

Visit Balat Mastabas After breakfast, start your final day by visiting the unique ancient mastabas near Balat. These burial monuments date back to the Old Kingdom period and are connected to the governors of Dakhla Oasis. The importance of these tombs shows that Dakhla was already a significant oasis during the same period when the pyramids were being built in the Nile Valley, around four thousand years ago. Drive to Kharga Oasis After visiting Balat, continue your drive toward Kharga Oasis, the final oasis stop on your desert journey. Kharga is the main center of the New Valley Governorate, a vast region that covers a large part of Egypt’s land area. The oasis includes important historical remains from Ancient Egyptian, Christian, and Islamic periods. Visit Hibis Temple In Kharga, you will visit Hibis Temple, dedicated to the god Amun. It is one of the rare temples built during the Persian rule of Egypt in the 26th Dynasty. The temple and its later Roman gate contain important inscriptions that help explain religious life and Roman imperial influence in Egypt. Visit Bagawat Cemetery Continue to Bagawat Cemetery, one of the oldest and best-preserved Christian cemeteries in the world. After Christianity arrived in Egypt, many Christian communities moved into desert areas during periods of Roman persecution. Kharga became one of these places, and Bagawat remains an important witness to early Christian history in Egypt’s Western Desert. Drive to Luxor After finishing your visit in Kharga, continue the drive directly to your hotel in Luxor. You will arrive in Luxor in the afternoon, where the tour ends.
