White Desert National Park<\/strong> is one of Egypt’s most extraordinary protected landscapes\u2014a vast wilderness of brilliant white chalk, wind-sculpted formations, fossil-rich limestone, dunes and open desert between Bahariya and Farafra in Egypt’s Western Desert.<\/p>

White Desert National Park\u2014often called the White Desert Protectorate<\/strong>\u2014is a protected natural landscape in Egypt’s Western Desert.<\/p>

The most immediately recognizable feature is the contrast between the pale desert floor and enormous white chalk formations that stand above it.<\/p>

Egypt’s official tourism authority describes the protectorate as a landscape of dunes, domes and wind-carved chalk sculptures created from an ancient seabed. Marine fossils can still be found within the area’s limestone layers.<\/p>
